Press Operator
Job Description

As a Press Operator (Level I–III), you will be responsible for safely operating press equipment to produce high-quality metal stampings. This role is designed to grow with you—starting with basic operation and advancing into more complex responsibilities such as troubleshooting, adjustments, and full press setup.

Core Responsibilities (All Levels)

  • Operate press equipment safely and efficiently to meet production goals
  • Follow work instructions, job cards, and quality standards
  • Load and unload parts using hands and/or foot controls
  • Perform routine quality checks and identify defects
  • Package and stage finished parts for the next operation
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Advanced Responsibilities (Level II–III)

  • Identify and respond to tool or machine issues during production
  • Make minor adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts
  • Train and support newer operators

Setup Responsibilities (Level III)

  • Set up presses, including installing/removing tools and setting pullbacks
  • Gather materials and prepare jobs for production
  • Run first-piece samples and coordinate with Quality for approval
  • Instruct operators on job requirements, quality checks, and safety procedures
  • Monitor tool condition and communicate issues to leadership
  • Make adjustments throughout production to maintain performance

This role plays a critical part in delivering quality parts on time while supporting a safe and team-oriented work environment.

Salary Range – $18.00 – $25.00/hour (depending on level)

Specifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Manufacturing or press operation experience is a plus, but not required
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role is essential

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Basic math and measurement skills (standard and metric preferred)
  • Good hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40–60 pounds depending on task
  • Prolonged standing or sitting depending on the job
  • Ability to use hands and/or foot controls to operate equipment

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and moving equipment
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses and hearing protection
